Care Guide
El Vaquero — Product Care Guide
Our pieces are crafted from premium organic cotton and heavyweight fabrics, manufactured in Spain with meticulous attention to detail. Proper care ensures longevity and preserves the integrity of every piece.
───
General Care Principles
Washing
• Wash cold — below 20°C (68°F)
• Turn garments inside out before washing to protect surface details and print quality
• Use a gentle cycle with mild, eco-friendly detergent
• Avoid bleach and fabric softeners — they break down cotton fibers over time
• Do not wring; gently press water out
Drying
• Air dry only — lay flat or hang on a sturdy hanger
• Avoid tumble drying as high heat causes shrinkage and weakens fabric structure
• For best results, dry in shade to preserve color depth, especially on vintage-dyed pieces
Ironing
• Iron on low heat if needed
• Do not iron directly over prints or embellishments
• Use a pressing cloth for added protection
• Steaming is recommended for heavyweight knits
───
Fabric-Specific Care
100% Organic Cotton T-Shirts & Longsleeves (180–350 GSM)
• Cold wash, gentle cycle
• Air dry flat to maintain shape
• Pre-shrunk (0–3% tolerance)
• Vintage dyeing treatment — wash separately for the first 3 washes to prevent color transfer
• Do not bleach
Heavyweight Sweatshirts & Crewnecks (450–600 GSM)
• Cold wash, gentle cycle
• Air dry recommended; if machine drying, use lowest heat setting
• Brushed fleece interior — avoid friction that may cause pilling
• Do not iron over rubberized prints or zipper pulls
Zip Hoodies
• Close all zippers before washing to prevent snagging
• Cold wash, gentle cycle
• Air dry to protect the zipper mechanism
• Do not dry clean
Sweatpants & Short Pants
• Cold wash, inside out
• Air dry flat or hang to preserve the loose, relaxed fit
• Inner drawcords — tie before washing to avoid tangling
• Do not bleach
Denim (Selvedge & Stone Wash)
• Wash as infrequently as possible — denim ages better with wear
• Cold water, inside out, gentle cycle
• Air dry to preserve selvedge edge and color
• Do not iron — the structured drape is part of the design
• Expect natural fading and patina over time — this is intentional
Corduroy Jackets & Workwear Jackets
• Dry clean recommended for best results
• If hand washing: cold water, mild detergent, do not wring
• Air dry on a wide-shoulder hanger to maintain shape
• Spot clean minor stains with a damp cloth
Vintage-Dyed Pieces
• These pieces are dyed using a special treatment process
• Wash separately for the first 3–5 washes to prevent color transfer onto other garments
• The color will evolve naturally over time — this is part of the design
• Do not tumble dry
• Avoid prolonged sun exposure while drying
───
Storage Tips
• Store folded or on wide-shoulder hangers to preserve shape
• Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• For long-term storage, place a moisture absorber in your closet
• Denim pieces can be rolled or folded — never hang heavy denim, it stretches the fabric
Our Commitment
Every El Vaquero piece is individually handcrafted and quality-checked before leaving our facility. Due to the organic nature of our fabrics and the artisanal dyeing process, slight variations in color, texture, and fit are inherent characteristics — not defects. They reflect the authenticity of each piece.
Thank you for investing in pieces built to last.
